Ontario Energy Board
How Ontario’s Energy Regulator Works to Keep Your Rates Fair and Reliable
What is The Ontario Energy Board?
The Ontario Energy Board regulates Ontario’s electricity and natural gas sectors. Part of its job is to oversee the energy companies operating in Ontario and ensure that the province’s energy supply is reliable, affordable, and sustainable. As an independent entity, it’s also designed to protect consumers and serve the public interest by ensuring everyone is treated fairly.
Some of the duties it carries out include:
- Ensuring electricity and natural gas rates are reasonable
- Setting the delivery rates that utilities charge
- Developing new energy policies
- Licensing energy providers and monitoring their compliance
Switch Smarter, Not Harder
